RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. To be eligible, a student must be under 21 years of age and attending classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12, in a public, separate or private school, or its equivalent, located in the school board area of Peterborough.
2. Deadline for entry is Tuesday, March 30th, 2010. Late Entries will not be accepted . There are no exceptions to this policy.
3. Group exhibits (those made by more than one student) are eligible. A group shall consist of not more than 2 students.
4. The same exhibitor may not display for competition an identical exhibit at any subsequent regional Science Fair. However, a project may be improved and entered again in competition.
5. An exhibit cannot be entered in more than one regional Science Fair per season for competition leading to the Canada-Wide Science Fair.
6. An exhibitor may not present more than one exhibit each year.
7. Except for grades K-3, a brief written description of the project is required. The description should include:
1. the project title
2. the purpose of the project
3. a brief description of procedures used
4. a brief summary of results
5. the conclusions drawn from the project.
It may also include any possible research applications.

The description must not exceed 500 words.
Up to 10 marks are awarded by the judges for this description.
This description is also used to determine the project's eligibility for special awards.
8. All exhibits, including all accessories, must be confined to a table or floor space not to exceed 0.8 m front to back, 1.20 m side to side and 3.5 m maximum height from the floor. Exhibits which exceed these dimensions will be disqualified.
9. Exhibits should be sturdy, self-supporting and meet YSF safety regulations ( see the Safety and Regulations Checklist ). Moving parts must be firmly attached. Electricity (AC110 volt and 60 cycle) will be supplied but no gas or water outlets. Switches and cords must be supplied by the student, CSA approved and protected by fuses. Cell or battery-fed circuits should be both safe in design and operation.
10. Projects must not involve living vertebrates except for observations of normal living patterns. No living vertebrates shall be displayed in exhibits. Part of vertebrates slaughtered for other purposes are of course permitted. For details see the YSF rules related to animal use.
11. Exhibits will be divided into the following divisions and categories:
